Kingdom Jumper Free Days

It’s that time again! Kingdom Jumper will be free to download from Amazon on May 29 to May 31. I’ll try and be as active as I can on those days and chat with my readers on Twitter. My activity of course depends on my workload at the time and what my editor has me doing for my more adult writing.

So, if you missed it the last time it was free, be sure to save the date and spread the word. Have a wonderful week.

I keep forgetting to post this here. I’m so sorry, folks. I’ve been so busy with my adult writing that the fantasy has sort of fallen to the wayside.

With that in mind, I do have a blog up for my adult readers. I try to update at least once a week. As it stands now, I have books coming out in August, September and October of this year, all from Total-e-Bound.

You can read more on this along with the books at my other site–the blog of Erin Lark.

Thank you all for looking and your continued support. I’m hoping to offer some free ebook downloads by E. S. Lark in the coming months. So stay tuned.

Lifesong Mock Cover

I’ve had this freaking image (or images like it) in my head for over a year and a half. Two years ago, I came up with a plot for a story I’d write in the very distant future. All I knew at the time was there was a lifestream sort of thing in Earth and due to human destruction, the Earth was stealing children during the night.

The original title was Child of the Earth. I know I’ve spoken about this plot to a few of you before. Well, I ended up writing the story earlier this month. It was going to be a YA novel, however, I found a way to spin it into a piece of erotica (which my editor is now looking over). However, the cover for the YA version was still on my mind, so I spent about 4-5 hours today working on it.

If the book flops for the erotic market, I’ll be reworking it for YA and use this cover. I’m planning to make a related desktop image later on. In any case, here it is. For those wondering, the story is in my editor’s hands. I won’t know about a contract or a pass until next month. So, no release date (which I think is kind of obvious).

I’ll eventually add this to my erotica blog/site once I have it set up. Enjoy.

A Brief Update

I know, I know, I’ve been slacking on my posts. Bad author!

I’m sorry I haven’t been updating as much over the last two weeks. Thing is, I have nothing to post about. I haven’t been writing fantasy, so I cannot post teasers, and anything I could post has to do with writing (which some readers might not be interested in).

However, I feel horrible for neglecting my blog, so I’ll post a point-by-point list of what I’ve been up to instead.

  • Week before last I wrote a short story for an (adult) anthology and submitted it. Still waiting to see if it sells.
  • Last week I wrote the first draft to my Beauty and the Beast twist. I planned on it being fantasy/paranormal, but well…it’s geared toward a more adult audience now.
  • This week I rewrote my twist on Beauty and the Beast so that it’s in first person instead of third.
  • This weekend I will be working on a query letter and synopsis for the above piece so that I can submit it to my editor early next week.

As far as fantasy is concerned, I do have a novella coming out (possibly next month). Aside from that, I also plan on publishing two collections (one for Wynrith and the other for Children of Avalon) later this year.

Sadly, that’s all I have on my plate for fantasy. I have the beginnings of a plot for a few pieces, but they aren’t really speaking to me. So, I hope you all understand my lack of teasers as of late. I’ll keep you all updated when I can.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Taking Some Time Off

If you’re in any of the literary circles, you’ve no doubt seen all of the drama that’s been going on. For those who haven’t, I’ll keep this short. Paypal has been targeting a few sites that help authors publish online, freezing their accounts due to some ‘questionable’ content being within those book. The content in the aforementioned books consists of rape, incest and more.

And while this action by Paypal doesn’t affect me, I cannot ignore it when it’s all over the communities I visit. There are theories, but essentially Paypal contacted Bookstrand, All Romance and Smashwords to remove any books that contain certain content. I believe it was Bookstrand who took it even further, closing all indie accounts, including mine. Not that I care, as I haven’t used any site outside of Amazon for a while.

So, why am I taking the time off? This whole thing is like a car crash. I cannot help but watch, which is cutting into my writing time. Not only that, but when I am online, I tend to go in circles. I’ll check my email, visit Twitter, then my Kindle sales page, then check Amazon ranks, then check writing communities, check email, visit Twitter….over and over. And aside from the unfolding drama, nothing else is happening online, no matter where I go.

Because of this, I’m planning to take some time off. I honestly need some time to myself to gain a bit of perspective. I now write under two different names, and I sort of want to figure out how to remain active under both names. However, as it stands right now, I just feel like one genre has my hands and the other one has my feet. They’ve been pulling me in different directions, and it’s exhausting.

I may or may not post a teaser this week, but if you don’t see me overly active on Twitter, now you know why. I apologize for my needing a vacation, but my writing is suffering, and I’d like to get back to it.

Have a wonderful week everyone!
